One Day in Penang: Highlights of Our #Ootd Trip

Now let's explore one day OOTD with Irene in Penang (^.^)

It's the end of the semester and after some arrangements on the timetable, my classmates and I have chose one day to make  way for our #ootd photoshooting. After discussing, we've decided to come to Penang as our destination for exploring and taking our photos.

THIS TIME IRENE IS  GOING TO PENANG!!

This will be quite a long post but I hope you will feel like you are take a short trip with me as you read along <3

Penang is an island state of Peninsular Malaysia famous for its cultural heritages and awesome food!

Discovering Penang's many sights and sounds withing 24hours can be a challenging yet fulfilling experience. Perfect for when you only have a day in Penang, I've compiles a helpful mini guide that includes a visit to Georgetown with #ootd photoshooting with your friends. It`s must be a wonderful day for you while visiting the orante temples, colonial buildings and colourful street art in Penang and you also can have an #ootd photoshooting with your friends.

Commuting from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

From Kuala Lumpur, you can take a plane, a train, or a bus but if you want to save up, you might as well go with the latter. You can  book the tickets online via EasyBook and it’s similar on how you book a flight. You can choose your preferred time of departure, bus route (pick-up and drop-off point), and bus type.
Bus tickets range from MYR 34.10 to RM45. Print your ticket and be there at the pick-up point at least 30 minutes before the time of departure. Alternatively, you can skip online booking and buy tickets at the TBS Terminal Bersepadu Selatan.
The bus arrived at Butterworth, Penang. From there you can take a ferry to Georgetown, which was highly recommended according to reviews. You also can remain on the bus as this will go directly to Georgetown. Make sure you have enough coins and bills since you have to drop the payment before riding, no change!

How to Get Around Penang

The best way to get around here is via bus if you want to hop on places cheaply and swiftly. Each bus has its own route guided by numbers, better ask the locals which bus should you hop in. Since my group just stayed in Georgetown area, the best way for us to explore Georgetown is on foot or rent a bike.
The Link Bike Sharing System is a new feature in Georgetown, as part of an effort by the Penang government to promote cycling amongst its citizens.

Where to stay

Since Georgetown is known as refurbished heritage sites, you can spend the night at these buildings turned hotel or hostels. We opted to book a hostel at Lebuh Chulia, a street famous for backpackers. We stayed at The Frame Guesthouse which is right in front of Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling. Got a double room for RM92 . Staying at Lebuh Chulia is the best if you wanna mingle with other backpackers and party at night! It’s near the famous Love Lane.

How to Spend Your Day in Penang

Kick-start your day in Penang by exploring Georgetown's Lebuh Armenian on foot or by bike. Here you'll find plenty of well-preserved temples and museums with vibrant artwork, adorning the narrow walkways.

When you go around Lebuh Armenian, you will easily find a lot of famous street art in Penang and "click"-let's take a sefie or photo with it and post on your instagram with hashtag #ootd ^^

Our next station for #ootd is Beach Street, or Lebuh Pantai which is one of the oldest streets in Georgetown, Penang. Along Beach Street, there are many heritage buildings and significant structures so our group decided to visit there for our #ootd photoshooting. By using Grabcar with the price of RM2, we went from Lebuh Armenian  to Lebuh Pantai

No trip to Penang is completed without sampling its diverse range of dessert offerings, all of which are best enjoyed during the scorching afternoon. We went to The Alley Cafe in Stewart Lane in Georgetown which is famous for its churros. To get to The Alley, it is better you use the Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling and turn into the lane which is Stewart Lane, besides the famous Kuan Yin Temple. Actually, The Alley Cafe rented this old shop which previously is a shop that sell the incenses. One of the criteria that the owner of the shop set is they cannot bring down the old signboard. So, dont get confused when you cant see the signboard of the Alley Cafe.

Next, Let's talk about Irene #ootd in Penang

So as discussed, our group have chose jeans or denim as our group theme for this #ootd.

When it comes to choosing my outfits, I like to keep things plain and simple. This look is one of my summer go-to's because it's easy, cute and can be mixed easily and matched with our group theme as well.

Baisc White t-shirt
Location: H&M, Gurney Paragon Penang
Price: RM39

Oversize jean jacket
Location: Monki, Gurney Paragon Penang
Price: RM139

White sneaker
Location: Adidas, Queensbay Mall Penang
Price: RM260

All it takes is a simple white shirt, a basic jean shorts, an oversize jean jacket to match with the theme together with a pair of white sneaker.
Cheers to Irene's simple outfits! Would you wear this look??
